Rep. Miller hopes his bill could reduce number of teenage suicides

Rep. Dan Miller (D-Allegheny) recently introduced House Bill 2057 which would require a mental health checkup for students at the age of 14.

Parents have the choice to opt out of having their child go to the checkup, but Rep. Miller believes it could help catch depression and other mental health issues before it is to late. 

Rep. Miller sat down with The PLS Reporter and discussed his thoughts on the newly introduced bill. With suicide being the second leading cause of death for teenagers, Rep. Miller felt like something is needed to be done to prevent that.

Pennsylvania residents may see a tax amnesty once again

Pennsylvania has used tax amnesty in the past to collect money and Rep. Marguerite Quinn (R-Bucks) has been working on using the tax amnesty strategy once again. 

House Bill 1888 would allow tax delinquents to file tax returns without dealing with any of their potential penalties. Rep. Quinn believes that doing this would only help the commonwealth see money they may have otherwise never seen.
