Lt. Gov. John Fetterman (D) joined citizens and legislators at Temple University Sunday afternoon to discuss the ramifications of legalizing marijuana to Philadelphia.

Stops in Philadelphia served as the culmination of a statewide listening tour for Fetterman on legalizing marijuana.

Voters will head to the polls Tuesday in Philadelphia for primary elections. Citizens will choose for mayor, City Council, judges, and other city offices.  

 

Dozens of candidates will fill the ballot for May 21st. While winners on Tuesday will advance to the November general election, many consider this the biggest fight of the campaign.

Fetterman’s listening tour to wrap up in Philadelphia

Lt. Gov. John Fetterman (D) will wrap up his statewide listening tour this weekend in Philadelphia. He’ll stop at four locations across the city to hear citizens’ input about legalizing recreational marijuana. 

 

In his first year in office, Fetterman has visited every county in Pennsylvania to hear from citizens about legalizing marijuana. The four stops and two days in Philadelphia are the highest on the tour.

Angry citizens clash with Philadelphia City Commissioners at meeting

The last public meeting of the Philadelphia City Commissioners before the primary elections saw lots of frustrated public commenters and no updates on the controversial voting machines.

New machines were selected in February to take over next year for elections, despite controversy over the procurement process. The two city commissioners who voted for the machines are running for re-election this year and have since recused themselves.

Philadelphia mayoral debate produces positions, attacks

The three candidates competing for the Democratic nomination in Philadelphia’s mayoral race met for their only televised debate Monday night.  

 

Mayor Jim Kenney will face State Senator Anthony Williams and former city controller Alan Butkovitz Tuesday in the primary election. Kenney has led the polls and looks to continue the trend of incumbents winning re-election that’s dominated Philadelphia politics since 1983.
