Shapiro joins 50-state antitrust investigation into Google

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro on Monday announced that Pennsylvania will join a bipartisan antitrust investigation into Google to review how the tech company’s business practices align with state and federal law.

 

Shapiro joins 49 other state attorneys general who have vowed to investigate Google’s massive influence over the tech and advertising spheres to determine whether its operations have stifled economic competitiveness across the country.

PA Senate bill targets puppy mills

As the legislature’s summer recess winds to a close, bills introduced earlier in the session should get further consideration. In the Senate, one bill might have a major effect on how Pennsylvanians purchase and adopt new pets.
 
Sen. Thomas Killion (R-Delaware) introduced “Victoria’s Law” in February, which would ban the sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits from breeding mills. Pet stores would only be allowed to sell animals obtained from an animal-care facility or rescue organization, which must be displayed next to each individual cage in the store.

Wolf Administration announces move to let voters apply for absentee ballots online

Pennsylvania voters are set to be able to register online as part of a new initiative from the Wolf Administration that officials say will continue to make it easier for residents to vote.

Starting September 16, voters will be able to apply at http://votespa.com/ApplyAbsentee provided they have a Pennsylvania driver’s license or ID number. Voters will have until Ocober. 29 to request a ballot.
