Report on cost of open records law presented to House committee

Pennsylvania government agencies spent $5.7 million to $9.7 million in 2016 on open record requests, according to an estimate from a report from the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee.

The report, issued following a resolution from House Local Government Chair Kate Harper (R-Montgomery), was presented to the committee Wednesday.

Getting online home rentals onto tax rolls advances out of committee

A law to make AirBnb and other home sharing platforms register with local governments moved out of committee Thursday.

The bill, HB 1810, would require that the websites share information on every host in the state with both the state Department of Treasury and county treasurers’ offices.
