Wolf touts increased education spending

Gov. Tom Wolf (D) highlighted some of the education wins from the 2019-20 budget passed this summer at an event in Brook Haven Wednesday. Speaking at Coeburn Elementary in Delaware County, he discussed what has been possible by restoring funding he said had been cut in prior administrations.

Joined by educators, administrations, and officials in the school’s library, Wolf repeatedly mentioned that 25,000 teaching jobs were cut under Tom Corbett’s (R) tenure. With the $200 million increase in this new budget, the state adds 465 Head Start slots and 2,200 more pre-K seats, which adds to the 13,500 seats created for early education under Wolf’s first term.
