House Commerce discusses business innovation, entrepreneurship at Temple University

In their last week before heading back to the Capitol for fall session, members of the House Commerce Committee went back to school. Legislators joined program leaders and professors at Temple University’s Fox School of Business to find out about the school’s efforts to promote new businesses and entrepreneurs.

Presentations, a facilities tour, and lunch helped educate committee members about the programs available through Temple’s business school and how they help students and community members start their own companies. Not only do these start-ups help create jobs and return tax revenue to the state, they tackle social problems and positively impact their neighborhoods and cities.

PLCB announces record sales as lawmakers float pricing changes

PLCB announces record sales as lawmakers float pricing changes

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) on Wednesday announced record sales for the 2018-2019 fiscal year, just a day after state lawmakers held a hearing on whether to forego the board’s current pricing model.

The PLCB is reporting $2.67 billion in sales for the most recent fiscal year, which the board says is an increase of $75.2 million from the previous year. The liquor control board, which oversees liquor sales throughout the state, says the increase continues a 20-year trend of year-over-year sales increases.
