Sexual assault resolutions spark debate in House Labor and Industry meeting

Debate around the legislative response to the #metoo movement heated up during Tuesday's House Labor and Industry voting meeting, as passage of two resolutions calling for further study on the issue left some members unhappy about a handful of sexual assault bills that have yet to be brought up.

On Monday afternoon the House Labor and Industry Committee met to consider two pieces of Workers' Compensation legislation - House Bill 1840 and Senate Bill 676. One - HB 1840 by Chairman Rob Kauffman (R-Franklin) - was amended and passed with along a party-line vote with Republicans voting in favor, however SB 676 was amended and held in committee. The PLS Reporter spoke with Chairman Kauffman to find out more about his legislation, and why SB 676 was held over.
