Rep. Ryan unveils legislation eliminating school property taxes

Rep. Frank Ryan (R-Lebanon) hosted a press conference Tuesday morning where he unveiled House Bill 13,  which calls for a total elimination of the school property tax within two years. 

Ryan's legislation would replace school property taxes with an increase of 1.85 percent to the local Personal Income Tax, an increase to the local sales tax of 2 percent on food and clothing, and a tax on retirement income at a rate of 4.92 percent.

Rep. Frank Ryan (R-Lebanon) plans to introduce House Bill 13 later this summer, which calls for a total elimination of the school property tax within two years. 

While a lot of bills eliminating property tax have been introduced in the past and have not gone anywhere, Rep. Ryan is confident his will move because of the support he has received and the amount of people he feels it will benefit.
