Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney unveils $4.4 billion city budget proposal that relies on $222 million in state aid

Philadelphia Major Jim Kenney on Thursday unveiled a $4.38 billion city budget for FY 2018 to Philadelphia City Council along with the city’s five-year plan.
 
It’s the second budget delivered by the mayor since taking office in January 2016.

Pension reform to get another swan song?

The negative outlook on the passage of public pension reform put on the issue by the inability of the House to garner enough votes for the measure Wednesday, was made even more bleak Thursday as the legislation was recommitted by the House to the conference committee from which the latest proposal originated.

 

House Republican spokesperson Steve Miskin said that the move will allow all four parties to try to work toward a new agreement before constitutional end of session November 30.
