DHS discusses new service expansion funding for intellectual disabilities and autism

Department of Human Services Deputy Secretary for Developmental Programs Nancy Thaler led a press conference on Wednesday discussing the expansion of services that are now available for Pennsylvanians with autism spectrum disorder. 

At the press conference Thaler discussed how Governor Wolf's 2018-2019 budget included $74 million for support programs and services for these Pennsylvanians and their families.

Sen. Langerholc one of many to rally against removing individuals with disabilities from their workplaces

Sen. Wayne Langerholc (R-Cambria) was one of many legislators who rallied to prevent residents of Pennsylvania with disabilities from being forced out of their workplaces and day programs. 

According to advocates, the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is attempting to force individuals with disabilities to spend 75 percent of their time in the community and away from their workshops and programs.
