Wolf signs 'unprecedented' executive order to organize state government in combating gun violence

In an effort to combat gun violence across the commonwealth, including a high-profile incident in Philadelphia that resulted in six police officers being shot, Gov. Tom Wolf signed an executive order Friday creating a new office focused on gun violence prevention and aiming to improve data sharing across agencies.

The order was originally supposed to be signed Thursday but was postponed in the wake of the Philadelphia shooting, which garnered national headlines as a man held a handful of police officers hostage and kept scores more at bay for hours following an attempt to serve a search warrant.
