Highly-debated cash assistance program ends as Commonwealth Court denies injunction

A cash assistance program that benefited some of Pennsylvania’s poorest and most vulnerable residents comes to an end today.

The General Assistance program, which sparked fiery debates in the General Assembly this session, formally ends Thursday after Gov. Tom Wolf signed Republican-backed legislation to end the program back in June.
