Gun violence prevention hearing produces emotional testimony, bipartisan roadmap

Rep. Mike Jones (R-York) attended the hearing to learn more about the statewide gun violence problem and the strategy behind treating it as a public health crisis. The meeting was held in the Philadelphia district of Rep. Movita Johnson-Harrell (D-Philadelphia) and focused on homicides in urban areas.

Jones remained quiet through most of the three-plus hours that saw testimony from law enforcement officials, subject experts, community activists, and those who have lost loved ones to gun violence. As the afternoon session drew near an end, he spoke at length about how Democrats could engage Republicans to bring necessary solutions.
