Could marijuana be coming to a liquor store near you?

In what would be a nationwide first, Pennsylvania lawmakers on Wednesday unveiled legislation to legalize marijuana for sale through the state liquor store system, an effort that supporters say will pad the state’s General Fund with an influx of new revenue.

PLCB announces record sales as lawmakers float pricing changes

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) on Wednesday announced record sales for the 2018-2019 fiscal year, just a day after state lawmakers held a hearing on whether to forego the board’s current pricing model.

 

The PLCB is reporting $2.67 billion in sales for the most recent fiscal year, which the board says is an increase of $75.2 million from the previous year. The liquor control board, which oversees liquor sales throughout the state, says the increase continues a 20-year trend of year-over-year sales increases.
