Fair work week legislation through committee after marathon hearings

A bill to create fair work week employment standards in Philadelphia had City Council members, media, and the assembled public working beyond normal business hours.

After nearly three hours of public testimony on Tuesday afternoon, and with the public meeting portion suspended for almost another hour for deliberations and amendments, the Committee of Law and Government passed through the bill 5-2. The vote split along party lines.
