Pittsburgh Controller says city finances are currently "on target"

If 2016 trends continue, Pittsburgh’s budget surplus at the end of 2017 could be close to $20 million, said City Controller Michael Lamb at his mid-year update on the city’s finances Monday.
The budget surplus for 2016 was more than $37 million thanks to tax revenue increases, particularly real estate and earned income taxes, said the Controller.

Dermody appoints new member to Pittsburgh's ICA board

After Dr. Esther Barazzone announced last month that she would be leaving the board of the Pittsburgh Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority, a new member was announced Monday to fill her position on the city financial oversight board.
The appointment of Dr. John M. Wilds, which became effective July 1, 2017, was made by House Minority Leader Frank Dermody (D-Cheswick). The ICA board is made up of one appointment each by the Governor, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, Minority Leader of the Senate, Speaker of the House, and Minority Leader of the House.
