Pittsburgh to get new and improved public transit system

Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto announced their plan Thursday for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), a high-speed transit proposal expected to better connect Oakland, home of the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University, with downtown.

“This is going to be one of the most transformational transportation projects that this region has ever undertaken,” said Fitzgerald. “We’ve been working on this for a number of years.”
