Gary Tennis leaves as head of Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs

The Wolf administration announced Tuesday afternoon that Secretary of the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs Gary Tennis will be leaving the administration.

 

In Tennis’s absence, Deputy Secretary Jennifer Smith will serve as Acting Secretary.

Pittsburgh City Council urges state to regulate standards of recovery homes for addicts

Pittsburgh City Council is asking the state legislature to reconsider the prioritization of legislation aimed at setting standards for drug and alcohol recovery homes. 

Through a proclamation read by Councilwoman Natalia Rudiak (District 4) on Tuesday citing the staggering effects of heroin and opioid overdose deaths in Allegheny County, Council called on the legislature to push HB 1884 and HB 2325 toward final passage this legislative session.
