June 14th, 2017 was Flag day in the commonwealth and across the nation. Flag day is set to celebrate the adoption of the Flag on June 14th, 1977. The goal of Flag day is to honor the nations flag. Although not an official federal holiday, Flag Day, on June 14th, is a state holiday in Pennsylvania.

An unfortunate incident at the GOP baseball practice for the Congressional baseball game led to a series of tweets from Pennsylvania lawmakers. The United States House of Representatives Majority Whip Steve Scalise, among three others, was shot while attending practice. The legislators came together to show support for the the victims and their recovery.

This past Sunday, the Pittsburgh Penguins held off the Nashville Predators to claim their second consecutive Stanley Cup. Many Pennsylvania lawmakers were grateful and honored to live in the same state as the champions. Legislators showed support in the House and Senate, on social media, and also with a makeshift Stanley Cup. 

Senate Bill 1 was signed into law on Monday with the signature of Gov. Tom Wolf. Senate Bill 1 reformed the Pennsylvania pension system. Moving forward, state employees will have options to their plan. The bipartisan action to create and get the bill through both the House and Senate was commended through tweets and in person during the signing.
